I’m off blogging at Muse, News … and a Few Loose Screws today. Stop by if you have time–I’m giving away a copy of Risk.
Archive for January, 2007
Here’s what the reviewer said about Risk in the March issue of Romantic Times:
Sometimes tragedies bring out the best and worst in those affected by them. That’s what happens in Christopher’s brilliant and tasteful novel about love, tragedy, heartbreak and forgiveness. The author delves deep into her characters, and this touching story will have readers looking into themselves and reexamining the way they react to those around them.
I’m thinking I should quit while I’m ahead and retire from novel writing. It’s gotta be all downhill after this …
My Harlequin editor let me know this week that my second novel for Kimani Press, Sweeter Than Revenge, will come out in January, 2008. That’ll give you plenty of time to budget accordingly, so don’t go spending all your end of the year/holiday money on foolish items like, for example, presents for your friends and family.
Okay? Okay. Enough said.
My sister just called to tell me she saw Risk on the shelf at one of our Cincinnati bookstores (can you hear me shrieking?) which means that it’ll soon be on shelves everywhere.
I know you’ve probably already pre-ordered six or eight copies on Amazon (a woman can hope, can’t she?), but if not, please look for it in stores near you within the next several days.
In the meantime, have you checked out the trailer on my home page … ?
My webmistress has just added the video trailer for Risk to my home page. Check it out on my home page and let me know what you think…
I hardly ever buy CDs these days. There doesn’t seem to be much point since the CD player in the car has been appropriated by the kids, and the only CDs they will authorize are the Harry Potter books. There was a brief period where they let me listen to Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, and maybe, if I was really lucky, a little Beyonce or Prince (he is, currently, still Prince, isn’t he?), but those days seem to be centuries ago.
So don’t tell them, okay, that this week I snuck out and picked up the latest Justin Timberlake CD, FUTURESEX/LOVESOUNDS. I’d heard good things about it, and Timberlake doesn’t disappoint. He seems to be channeling his inner Prince—very funky, with lots of attitude. It’s so good, in fact, that I think I’ll be sneaking out to get his first CD, JUSTIFIED, wherein I understand he connects with his inner Michael Jackson.
I just hope the kids don’t catch me…
This Friday night at 9 p.m. EST, I’ll be chatting over at Romance Divas, along with my fellow Kensington/Dafina authors Patricia Sargeant, Sophia Shaw, and Maureen Smith. We’ll be talking and laughing about books, life, and whatever else catches our fancy. Stop by and say hi if you have time.
This week I read the latest from erotic and historical romance author, Sylvia Day. The Stranger I Married, Day’s follow-up to last summer’s Ask For It, tells the story of Isabel, Lady Pelham, who receives the shock of her life when her AWOL husband, Gerard Faulkner, Marquess of Grayson, returns and announces he wants to turn their comfortable marriage of convenience into the real thing.
I loved this book for lots of reasons, but mostly because Day knows how to write a hero. Grayson is complex, charming, and, as his wife soon discovers, irresistibly sexy. His unshakable desire to win Isabel makes this book so much fun and sends it straight to my keeper shelf.
If you haven’t picked up one of Day’s historical novels yet, you’re missing a real treat.
I’m blogging over at Access Romance today. Stop by if you get a minute…
So here’s what happened.
At the RWA national conference in Atlanta this past July, I was at dinner with my agent, Sha-Shana Crichton, my workshop co-presenter and another of Sha-Shana’s authors, gothic historical writer Eve Silver, and historical author Caroline Linden. I think I ordered the fish sandwich, and Eve, who, in her day job, is the type of scientist that deals with the germs and whatnot that cause food poisoning (I forget her official designation) grossed us out with tales of what disgusting things contaminated food can do to you. It was a lovely dinner. In between saying “Ewwww,” and “Yuck!” to everything Eve said, and talking about the upcoming RITA awards, we agreed that it might be fun to have a group blog.
Fast forward a couple of months, and Caroline talked to historical author Kristi Cook who (I think) was in touch with historical paranormal author Colleen Gleason. Kristi and Colleen also wanted to form a group blog. We talked, we procrastinated, we talked some more, and somewhere along the way historical author Sally MacKenzie, RITA winner Stephanie Feagan, and mystery author Wendy Roberts signed on.
Are you keeping all this straight?
Anyhoo, the upshot is that I’ve joined a new blog! Here’s the title: Muse, News … and a Few Loose Screws. We have not, thus far, been unable to agree about which of us are the loose screws, but we won’t worry about that now.
We’ve been blogging amongst ourselves for several days now, and we think we’re ready for prime time, even though we still need to design a template and logo. So stop by and say hi if you have a minute. In the meantime, here’s the lineup, in no particular order:
• Colleen Gleason
• Stephanie Feagan
• Kristina Cook
• Caroline Linden
• Sally MacKenzie
• Eve Silver
• Wendy Roberts
