My former friend, author Patricia Sargeant, has tagged me to blog about my eight random things.
*SIGH*
It’s not like I was BUSY or anything, Patricia. Not like I had anything I needed to get done today.
SHEESH.
So here are the rules:
1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about herself.
2. People who are tagged write a post about their own eight random things and post the rules.
3. At the end of the blog, the person has to tag eight people and post their names.
4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment and tell them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
Okay? Okay. Here are my eight random things:
Ummm … thinking … thinking …
Oh, okay. Here we go:
1. I love to bake, especially cakes. Favorites: pound cake, Italian crème cake, and carrot cake.
2. I love to cook. Favorites: the Christmas Eve meal Angela cooked for Justus in Risk—beef tenderloin, green beans almondine, and these really great mashed potatoes with sour cream and cream cheese. And carrot cake.
3. I went through an O.J. Simpson obsession, and read all the books—including his ridiculous I Want to Tell You—before it was all said and done.
4. I love Prince. In high school, my father and I camped out all night outside the old Lazarus/Shillito’s to get tix for the Purple Rain tour. LOVE Prince.
5. My all-time pet-peave? People smacking/cracking gum. Drives me INSANE.
6. Here are some of the movies I always have to watch whenever they’re on TV, regardless of the fact that I have them on DVD:
a. Jaws;
b. Any of the Lord of the Rings trilogy;
c. The Godfather;
d. A Few Good Men;
e. Aliens;
f. Gone With the Wind; and
g. When Harry Met Sally.
7. I’m not real fond of spiders or heights.
8. My first car was a baby blue Honda Accord. Manual transmission. Don’t remember the year. LOVED that car.
Sooo … now my random eight duties are fulfilled, more or less. I’m not tagging eight more people because I don’t want that many people to hate me in one fell swoop. I know I’m breaking the rules. I sure hope the earth continues to spin on its axis anyway. *G*
And if you feel like mentioning a random fact about yourself, I’ll give away a copy of Just About Sex to a random commenter late today.

Ann,
Someone also tagged me with this, and I did my 8 on my blog yesterday.
I’m feeling you on the Prince thing! He’s so sexy in a really strange way…
Probably the strangest attraction I’ve had was to actor, Jeff Goldblum after I saw him in “The Fly.” Pretty twisted, huh?
by Chicki Brown May 12th, 2007 at 7:03 amOkay, I’ll be sure not to crack my gum around you…
I love When Harry Met Sally. I’m a romantic comedy/chick flick fiend. I think I love them all. But the one I can’t seem to get enough of these days in How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days.
And Chicki, you became attracted to Goldblum after seeing The Fly?
Hmmmm….
Gwyneth
by Gwyneth Bolton May 12th, 2007 at 7:23 amChicki, Chicki, Chicki–I’m just not sure what to say to you. I was feeling a real sisterhood connection about the Prince thing, but then you had to gross me out by reminding me of the most DISGUSTING movie I’ve ever seen. EEEEEEEWWWWW!
Now if you wanna mention Jeff Goldblum in, say, JURASSIC PARK, then we can talk…
Gwen, I haven’t seen HOW TO LOSE A GUY. May have to check it out.
by ann May 12th, 2007 at 9:39 amOkay, okay. He was cool in a nerdy way before he changed into the fly. That was the most random fact I could think of…
by Chicki Brown May 12th, 2007 at 4:26 pmAnn! Ann! Where has the love gone?
Thank you for playing along, Ann.
by Patricia Sargeant May 12th, 2007 at 7:26 pmWe actually have quite a few things in common from your list - several of the movies, carrot cake and I’m also bothered by people cracking their gum. Nuthin’ but love for *you,* though, Gwyneth.
Patricia, we’re straight. For now.
I picked a name out of a hat, and Chicki won the copy of JAS! Chicki–please send me your address via ann@annchristopher.com. Or do I have it already?
by ann May 13th, 2007 at 7:00 amOMG Ann, We could amost be sisters
This is so freeky. I loath gum so much, so many people here crack it, I want to scream and pull my hair out its that bad.
I also love to cook and bake, my fav are ANZAC Biscuits, Banana cake and Afgans in the baking dept, for cooking I love the weekends as the cooking is easy as I do a “White mans Umu”, I line a baking dish with foil, empty a tin of coconut cream onto the foil and put Taro leaves (If I can get them) or Silverbeet ontop. I then put my choice of meat on the leaves with potatoe, kumera and pumpkin cover with more leaves after seasoning with salt and pepper and then cover with foil. You need lots of foil as you dont want any steam to escape. I then cook it for a few hours until the meat and veges are cooked then serve. very yummy. You can use lots of different meats like, chicken, mutton, Pickled Pork.
Prince well what can I say about him except purple rain is one of my fave songs and I sing it loud and feel very sorry for those around me. I dont totally agree with you as far as the movies are concerned but I am terrified of heights, to the extent I cant even go on a ferris wheel incase it stops up top. But and this is weird i love to fly and will happily get into a plane whether it be big or small.
I wish it was easy to get you books here in New Zealand but its not so I have to settle for second hand ones I find

by Rosemary June 1st, 2007 at 11:26 pmKia ora, Rosemary! Thanks for commenting! Wow, we DO have lots in common!
Please tell us Yanks (you call Americans “Yanks,” don’t you?) what are:
Afgans;
Taro leaves;
Silverbeet;
Kumera; and
Pumpkin cover?
White man’s umu sounds like something my uncle makes that he calls “swamp potatoes”: smoked sausage slices, potatoes, onions, and cheese. I think that’s all the ingredients… it’s REALLY delicious and I have, alas, never been able to recreate it.
Thanks for stopping by!
