I hope your 2010 is shaping up well!

Things’ll be busy around here, starting with my free online read over at eHarlequin.com, Melting the Ice Queen, which will run weekdays beginning March 29.

Next, Jillian Warner will get her long overdue happily ever after in May’s Redemption’s Kiss (Harlequin/Kimani Romance). Her unlikely hero? Beau, her wayward ex-husband and the disgraced former governor of Virginia. Did I mention this book has fireworks aplenty? Oh, and Beau’s story is part of the Kimani Hottie series, which includes this A-MAZ-ING free downloadable calendar!

June 1 brings my novella, Atticus Gets a Mommy, in Lori Foster’s upcoming charity anthology, Gift of Love. You remember Atticus, right? He’s the capuchin therapy monkey from last year’s novella, Atticus Saves Lisa, in the Tails of Love anthology. Now he’s back, helping his quadriplegic owner, Keenan, overcome his fears and find love at last.

In October, my contribution to the Love in the Limelight continuity series, Seduced on the Red Carpet (Harlequin/Kimani Romance), hits the shelves. Led by Brenda Jackson, the series also features books by talented authors A.C. Arthur and Adrianne Byrd. I’m thrilled to be in such great company!

Finally, in November, the first book in my romantic suspense series for Kensington/Dafina, Deadly Pursuit, will be released. Stay tuned for more details about that!

Welcome to my site. If you have time, look around a little, check out what’s new, upcoming appearances and read excerpts. And you can catch up with me on Twitter, although I can only promise sporadic and minimally entertaining tweets, alas!

If the mood strikes, please e-mail me because I’d love to hear from you. In the meantime, stay a while…

Love, Ann

New theorem: snow days + kids at home = 3 pages written today. Not good, especially since the book (a Kimani romance) is due on March 1!

Kate

Over a week later, and I still can’t believe it.

Kate Duffy, Kensington Publishing’s legendary editorial director, has died. She was only 56.

Trying to imagine the world of romance books without Kate is like trying to get used to peanut butter without jelly, or a romance novel without a happily-ever-after. Still, we’ll have to adjust to the fact that Kate will never again grace a conference with her biting wit, immense knowledge of the industry, or abiding love of books and authors.

I have many wonderful memories of Kate, who bought my romantic suspense series last year, but the last time I saw her is my favorite. I had gone to NYC and spent the morning with her at her office. After a terrific Italian lunch with her and Kristine Noble, from Kensington’s art department, it was time for me to go. Kate gave me one of her bear hugs, a kiss on the cheek, and some words of encouragement as I set out to finish the first book. Even though she had many other, bigger authors, she made me feel special, and I know I’m not the only author of hers who felt that way. I went about the rest of my day with a smile on my face.

I thought we were saying good-bye for the day. I didn’t know it was forever.

I miss you, Kate.
